When it’s time to leave military service, you might wonder, what’s next? Cybersecurity is a burgeoning field for veterans to enter into. The demand for trained cybersecurity talent is high, and the supply is still low. Veterans possess many of the traits that cybersecurity employers seek—knowledge of technology, security clearance, knowledge of security procedures, systematic training skills, ability to make quick decisions, and a passion for defending your country.
Cybersecurity jobs do require training and education, however. There are free and reduced-cost cybersecurity training and courses offered for veterans. If you are interested in obtaining a certificate or degree from a college or university, however, costs can skyrocket quickly. It has been estimated that the average cost of a cybersecurity bachelor’s degree is $20,000.
